  1. Applesauce:

  2. 3 medium apples peeled cored and sliced

  3. 1 cup water

  4. 3 Tbsp. honey

  5. 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  6. Batter:

  7. 1 cup flour

  8. 1/3 cup sugar

  9. 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  10. 1/4 tsp. baking soda

  11. 1 /8 tsp. salt

  12. 1 egg

  13. prepared applesauce (above)

  14. 1 tsp. vanilla

  15. Topping:

  16. 1/2 cup brown sugar

  17. 2 Tbsp butter/margarine

  18. 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  19. 1/2 cup chopped pecans

  1. Simmer apples and water on stove-top for 15-25 minutes. Mash with a potato masher. Stir in honey and cinnamon.

  2. Mix topping ingredients in a small bowl until crumbly.

  3. Mix dry batter ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients. Combine.

  4. Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased 8x8 pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the crumble topping. Pour on remaining batter and top with remaining crumble.

  5. Bake 20-25 minutes at 350*. Cool 10 minutes before cutting and serving. Yield: serves 16 Notes: Serve warm or cold for breakfast. This can also be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an easy dessert.
