  1. 1 cup 160g / 5.6oz Brown sugar

  2. 1/2 cup 118ml Milk - sour

  3. 1 Egg - well beaten

  4. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Salt

  5. 1/4 cup 49g / 1.7oz Butter - melted

  6. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Flour

  7. 2 teaspoons 10ml Ginger, powdered

  8. 1 1/2 teaspoons 7 1/2ml Soda

  1. Mix the butter and sugar together and add the egg. Sift the dry ingredients together and add alternately with the milk. Beat vigorously for 2 minutes.

  2. Pour into a shallow, buttered baking and bake at 350-F for 30 minutes.

  3. Serve hot or cold, plain, with whipped cream, or with Cream Filling for Gingerbread.
