  2. Steaks:

  3. 3 tbsp. minced fresh garlic

  4. 3 tbsp. peeled, grated fresh ginger

  5. 1 tbsp. Chinese five spice powder

  6. 1 1/2 tsp. salt

  7. 1/2 tsp. pepper

  8. 6 New York strip steaks, about 8 ounces each 1/4 cup sliced green onions

  9. Sauce:

  10. 1 tbsp. peeled, minced fresh ginger

  11. 1 tbsp. vegetable oil

  12. 3 tbsp. all purpose flour

  13. 2 cups chicken broth

  14. 1/4 cup soy sauce

  1. For Steaks:

  2. Stir together garlic, ginger, five spice powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle each side of each steak with 1 tsp. of the spice mixture. Transfer seasoned steaks to a large baking dish. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.

  3. Prepare grill. Place steaks on an oiled grill rack and grill to desired doneness. Divide steaks between plates, spoon sauce over and serve.

  4. For Sauce:

  5. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ginger and cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add flour and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Add broth and soy sauce. Cook, stirring, until sauce is thickened. Strain the sauce into a medium saucepan and stir in green onions. Keep sauce warm while grilling steaks.
