  1. 1 cup(s) all-purpose flour

  2. 1 cup(s) whole-wheat flour

  3. 3/4 cup(s) dark seedless raisins

  4. 1/4 cup(s) sugar

  5. 1 1/4 teaspoon(s) baking soda

  6. 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt

  7. 1 1/4 cup(s) buttermilk or plain low-fat yogurt

  8. 3/4 cup(s) light molasses

  9. 1 large egg

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9" by 5" metal loaf pan.

  2. In large bowl, combine flours, raisins, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in buttermilk, molasses, and egg until batter is just mixed (batter will be very wet).

  3. Pour batter into loaf pan. Bake bread 55 to 60 minutes until toothpick inserted in center of bread comes out clean.

  4. With spatula, loosen bread from sides of pan. Remove bread from pan; cool slightly on wire rack to serve warm. Or, cool completely to serve later.
