  1. 750 gm chicken (pieces)

  2. 3/4tbsp ginger paste

  3. 3/4tbsp garlic paste

  4. 3/4tbsp green chili paste

  5. 2tsp lemon juice

  6. 2 tbsp tomato paste

  7. 1tbsp biryani powder

  8. 1tsp red chili powder

  9. 1tbsp coriander powder

  10. 1/2tsp turmeric powder

  11. 1tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)

  12. 1 cup water

  13. 10 onions (chopped/fry)

  14. 2tbsp oil (or ghee)

  15. Rice cook:

  16. 1 kg rice (soak in water for 1/2 hour)

  17. 1tbsp oil

  18. 1 onion (chopped)

  19. 2 bay leaves

  20. 1 cardamom (big)

  21. 1 cinnamon

  22. 3 cloves

  23. 8 cups water

  24. 1tsp mint leaves

  25. Salt as per taste

  26. 1tsp food color 1tsp saffron (soak in water)

  27. Coriander leaves (to garnish)

  28. 1tsp garam masala

  1. First take the chicken pieces in a bowl

  2. Add ginger-garlic-green chili paste

  3. Put lemon juice and tomato paste

  4. Put biryani powder, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt

  5. Add the coriander leaves and mix altogether with the chicken pieces very well

  6. Leave it to marinate for ½ hour

  7. Fry chopped onions till golden brown in color

  8. Now add the marinated chicken with the fried onions

  9. Cook the chicken in low flame

  10. Boil for few minutes and keep on stirring in between

  11. Add the marinate water masala with the chicken

  12. Mix it well and cover the pan to cook for few more minutes

  13. The chicken is ready

  14. Now start to make the rice

  15. Heating up 1tbsp oil in a deep bottom fry pan

  16. Add chopped onions, bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves

  17. Fry for a minute and now add the mint leaves

  18. Fry till the onions become translucent

  19. Now pour water

  20. Put salt as per taste

  21. When the water starts boiling add the rice

  22. Half cook the rice

  23. Now drain the water from the rice

  24. Add the rice with the chicken

  25. Add food color and saffron water

  26. Sprinkle garam masala

  27. Put few mint leaves over the rice

  28. Now cover the pan

  29. Put a tawa on low flame

  30. Put the pan with chicken and rice on the tawa

  31. Cook for few more minutes till the rice cooks completely

  32. Serve the chicken biryani with fried potatoes and cucumber carrot raita
