  1. Basmathi rice 2 cups

  2. Tomato Puree 1 cup ( or 4 large tomatoes)

  3. Onions 2

  4. Sliced

  5. Green Chillies 2

  6. Slit

  7. Ginger Garlic Paste 2 tsp.

  8. Mint Leaves 1 cup

  9. Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp.

  10. Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp.

  11. Whole Spice:

  12. 2 Cloves,

  13. 2 Cardamom

  14. 1 piece of Cinnamon.

  15. Oil 4 tbsp.

  16. Water 3 cups

  17. Salt to Taste.

  1. Wash the rice and soak in cold water for 20 minutes.

  2. If using fresh tomatoes, blanch, remove the skin and crush it 3.

  3. Heat the oil in a sauce pan and add the whole spice [Cover the pan to let the spice splutter] add the sliced onions and green chillies and cook for a minute.

  4. Add ginger garlic paste, mint leaves and the tomato puree or the crushed fresh tomatoes, add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder and the salt.

  5. Cook well until the mixture thickens, on medium heat, stirring often.

  6. Drain the water from the rice, add to the tomato mixture and stir well.

  7. Add the 3 cups of water bring it to a boil and transfer the whole lot to an electric cooker .When done stir well with a fork and serve. warm with potato chips [If using a Pressure Cooker cook for 10 minutes under Pressure]
