  1. 1/4 cup 49g / 1.7oz Butter

  2. 1/4 cup 49g / 1.7oz Shortening

  3. 2 cups 396g / 13oz Sugar

  4. 1 teaspoon 5ml Vanilla

  5. 2 Eggs

  6. 3/4 teaspoon 3.8ml Baking soda

  7. 3/4 cup 82g / 2.9oz Hershey's cocoa

  8. 1 3/4 cups 109g / 3.8oz Flour

  9. 3/4 teaspoon 3.8ml Baking powder

  10. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Salt

  11. 1 3/4 cups 414ml Milk

  1. Cream together the butter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs.

  2. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Blend well.

  3. Pour into two generously greased and floured 9" round cake pans.

  4. Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.

  5. Cool, remove from pans and ice as desired.
