  1. Basmati rice - 2 cup

  2. Onion (big) - 2

  3. Tomatoes (ripe) - 3

  4. Paneer (unfermented Indian cottage cheese) - 200g

  5. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

  6. Chilli powder - 1 tsp

  7. green chillies - 3 no

  8. Salt - to taste

  9. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

  10. Lemon juice - 2 tsp

  11. To season:

  12. Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tsp

  13. Oil - 1 tsp

  14. Cinnamon - 2

  15. Cloves - 2

  16. Cardamom - 2

  17. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

  1. Wash and soak basmati rice in 3 cups of water.

  2. Slice onion lengthwise and chop tomatoes finely, dice paneer to a slightly bigger piece.

  3. In cooker heat ghee and oil, add the seasoning ingredients.

  4. Fry slightly and add onion, turmeric powder and a pinch of salt and sauté till onion is half cooked.

  5. To that add ginger garlic paste and paneer pieces. Allow it to cook till the raw flavor is gone.

  6. Add tomatoes, chilli powder/ green chillies, lemon juice and cook for 5 mins.

  7. Add the rice with the water, required salt and close the cooker.

  8. Cook till 1 whistle.

  9. Reduce the flame to sim and let it cook for 5 mins.

  10. Hot and tasty paneer pulav is ready.
