    1. 2 c. light brown sugar

    2. 1 c. white sugar (1/2 c. if adding chocolate chips)

    3. 1 1/2 c. shortening (3/4 c. butter & 3/4 c. Crisco)

    4. 5 lg. eggs

    5. 3 c. flour

    6. 1 c. milk

    7. 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    8. 1 tsp. vanilla

    9. 1 c. chopped nuts (or chocolate chips)

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease tube pan. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs until fluffy. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add vanilla to milk. Add flour and milk to shortening mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour into tube pan and bake 1 1/2 hours or until done.
