Pirate Ship Cake

Create water surface by filling large jelly roll pan with blue Jello, prepare to Giggler specifications.

Hot glue dowel masts to cardboard. Sails can be printed on computer printer and attached to cross members with string or hot glue. Can be prepared days ahead.

Bake cake to shape of hull (we used a foil roasting pan shaped by hand to desired shape) or cut from large sheet cake and fashion to hull shape. Make upper deck parts out of cake. Make two small cupcakes, remove protruding top and ice for crows nests. Place above sails on masts.

Position hull on Jello sea. Place deck on hull. Set fore and aft decks. Apply chocolate icing on all cake parts. Trim with white icing to simulate ocean spray. Use Oreo cookie as tiller (steering wheel). Insert tube cookies in side of hull and push licorice into tube to simulate cannon fire. Position toy pirates on deck. Decorate deck with root beer barrel and malted "cannon" balls, etc. Install the shredded wheat windows. Rig with ropes."
