  1. 500 gms chicken

  2. 500 gms onion (chopped)

  3. 2tsp tomato paste

  4. 2tsp yogurt

  5. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  6. 1tsp salt

  7. 1tsp red chili powder

  8. Cilantro leaves (few/chopped)

  9. Mint leaves (few/chopped)

  10. 1tsp garam masala

  11. 2 potatoes (8 pieces)

  12. 1 kg rice (soak in water for 1 hour)

  13. 2tbsp oil

  14. 1 (black) cardamom

  15. 4 cloves

  16. 1 cinnamon (stick)

  17. 1/2tbsp ginger paste

  18. 1/2tbsp garlic paste

  19. 3 green chilies (chopped)

  20. 1 bay leaf

  21. Saffron (pinch/soak in water)

  22. Food color 1tsp ghee

  23. 1tsp ginger (thinly sliced)

  24. Make powder:

  25. 1 star anise

  26. 1 dagar fool

  27. 1piece nutmeg

  1. First take the chicken pieces in a bowl

  2. Add tomato paste and yogurt and mix well

  3. Now put turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder and mix altogether well

  4. Add chopped cilantro leaves and mint leaves

  5. Put garam masala

  6. Make a powder with star anise, dagar fool and nutmeg and mix the powder masala

  7. Add the chopped potatoes and mix altogether well

  8. Marinade the chicken now for 30 minutes

  9. Heating up oil in a pan

  10. Add the chopped onions and fry them till brown in color

  11. Now add the ginger and garlic paste and green chilies

  12. Mix well and fry till the raw smell of ginger and garlic goes

  13. Now add the marinated chicken and mix well

  14. Cover the pan and cook the chicken for 15 minutes

  15. Add little water and mix it

  16. Cover the pan again and cook for another 10 minutes

  17. The chicken masala is cooked now

  18. In other hand heating up water in a pan

  19. Put black cardamom, cinnamon and cloves in the water

  20. Add 1tbsp of salt and few drops of oil

  21. Put bay leaf in the water

  22. When the water starts to boil add the soaked rice

  23. Cook the rice till it half boiled

  24. Now drain the water

  25. Take a flat pan on very low flame

  26. Put some chicken masala

  27. Add some rice over the chicken masala and spread it

  28. Spread saffron water over the rice and few long thin slices of ginger and 1/2tsp garam masala

  29. Now again put some chicken masala

  30. Again put rice over the chicken masala and spread it

  31. Spread saffron water over the rice and few long thin slices of ginger and 1/2tsp garam masala

  32. Put some food color and ghee

  33. Cover the pan and cook for another few minutes

  34. Chicken biryani recipe is now ready to be served
