First take the chicken pieces in a bowl
Add tomato paste and yogurt and mix well
Now put turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder and mix altogether well
Add chopped cilantro leaves and mint leaves
Put garam masala
Make a powder with star anise, dagar fool and nutmeg and mix the powder masala
Add the chopped potatoes and mix altogether well
Marinade the chicken now for 30 minutes
Heating up oil in a pan
Add the chopped onions and fry them till brown in color
Now add the ginger and garlic paste and green chilies
Mix well and fry till the raw smell of ginger and garlic goes
Now add the marinated chicken and mix well
Cover the pan and cook the chicken for 15 minutes
Add little water and mix it
Cover the pan again and cook for another 10 minutes
The chicken masala is cooked now
In other hand heating up water in a pan
Put black cardamom, cinnamon and cloves in the water
Add 1tbsp of salt and few drops of oil
Put bay leaf in the water
When the water starts to boil add the soaked rice
Cook the rice till it half boiled
Now drain the water
Take a flat pan on very low flame
Put some chicken masala
Add some rice over the chicken masala and spread it
Spread saffron water over the rice and few long thin slices of ginger and 1/2tsp garam masala
Now again put some chicken masala
Again put rice over the chicken masala and spread it

Put some food color and ghee
Cover the pan and cook for another few minutes
Chicken biryani recipe is now ready to be served
