  1. 250 gms chicken (pieces)

  2. 1/2tbsp ginger paste

  3. 1/2tbsp garlic paste

  4. Salt as per taste

  5. Red chili powder

  6. 1/2tsp turmeric powder

  7. Fry onions (for garnish)

  8. 1tsp lemon juice

  9. 3 green chilies (slit in between)

  10. ginger (Few long slices)

  11. cup yogurt

  12. 2 onions (chopped)

  13. 1 cardamom (black )

  14. 3 cloves

  15. 1tsp fennel seeds

  16. 7 black pepper (pods)

  17. 1 1/2tsp cumin seeds

  18. 1 piece cinnamon (stick)

  19. Oil

  20. Water

  21. Cilantro leaves (few for garnish)

  22. Mint leaves (few for garnish)

  1. First make a powder with black cardamom, cloves, fennel seeds, black pepper, cumin seeds and cinnamon stick

  2. Fry 1 large chopped onion with oil till the color turn golden brown

  3. Add the garlic and ginger paste and mix well and fry till the raw smell goes

  4. Add the chicken pieces now and mix well

  5. Put salt, chili powder and turmeric powder now and mix well and cook for 2 minutes

  6. Pour the yogurt

  7. Now add the already made powder masala and mix them well with the chicken and cook for another 2 minutes

  8. Now add water

  9. Cover the pan with a lid and let cook the chicken till the oil separates from the masala

  10. Chicken nihari is ready now

  11. Off the stove

  12. Put few thin slices of ginger and cilantro and mint leaves

  13. Now sprinkle some fried onions

  14. Put the green chilies

  15. Add the lemon juice

  16. Now chicken nihari is ready to be served with rice, naan or parantha
