  1. MARINADE:

  2. 1/333333333 cup(s) reduced-sodium soy sauce

  3. 1/4 cup(s) orange juice

  4. 1/4 cup(s) minced scallions

  5. 2 tablespoon(s) packed brown sugar

  6. 2 teaspoon(s) each minced garlic and grated fresh gingerroot

  7. 1 tablespoon(s) dark Oriental sesame oil

  8. 3 pound(s) flanken beef-short ribs

  9. Garnish: toasted sesame seeds

  1. Put marinade ingredients and ribs in a gallon-size zipper-type food-storage bag. Press out air, seal and turn to mix marinade. Refrigerate at least 3 hours, but not more than 24, turning bag occasionally.

  2. To grill or broil: Grill 4 to 6 inches above hot coals, turning and brushing with marinade once, 6 minutes for medium-rare. Broil on broiler-pan rack 4 to 6 inches from heat source, cooking as directed.

  3. Sprinkle with seeds before serving.
