  1. 2 cups rice (soak into water for 1/2 hour)

  2. 1 onion (chopped)

  3. 1 tomato (puree)

  4. 1 bay leaf

  5. 2 cloves

  6. 1piece of cinnamon

  7. 6 curry leaves

  8. 1/2tsp turmeric powder

  9. 1/4tsp Hing powder (asafetida)

  10. 2 green chilies

  11. Salt per taste

  12. 1tsp cumin seeds (roasted and powdered)

  13. 2tsp coriander seed (roasted and powdered)

  14. 2 red chili (make it powder)

  15. 1 cup cabbage (chopped)

  16. 1 cup cauliflower (cut into pieces)

  17. 1 potato (cut into small pieces)

  18. 2tbsp coriander leaves (chopped/for garnish)

  19. cup coconut (grated)

  20. 1tbsp oil

  21. Water

  22. 1/2tsp garam masala

  1. First of all roast the coriander seeds, cumin seeds and red chilies

  2. Roast them till nice aroma come out

  3. Grind them well to make a fine powder

  4. Now take a deep bottom pot and add 1tbsp of oil in it

  5. When the oil is enough hot put the bay leaves, cinnamon and cloves

  6. Now add the curry leaves and green chilies and fry for a minute

  7. Add the chopped onion now

  8. Fry them all till the onion become golden in color

  9. Now add the turmeric powder, salt and hing powder

  10. Pour the tomato puree now

  11. Mix them well and cook for a minute

  12. Now add the roasted powdered masala (coriander, red chili and cumin)

  13. Stir them well and cook for another minute

  14. Now add the vegetables (chopped cabbages, potatoes and cauliflower)

  15. Mix the ingredients well and cook for 2 minutes

  16. Now add the soaked rice in it and keep stirring for a minute

  17. Pour hot water into it

  18. Mix it well and cook in a medium flame still the rice is done

  19. Put 1sp of garam masala

  20. Sprinkle the grated coconut now

  21. Sprinkle the coriander leaves over the rice

  22. Now cover it with a lid and leave it for 5 minutes in low flame

  23. Masale bhat is ready to be served
