  1. 1 tin Heinz oxtail soup

  2. 250g minced beef

  3. Splash vegetable oil for frying

  4. 125g plain flour

  5. 25g lard

  6. 1 heaped tablespoon baking powder

  7. 25ml milk

  8. Pinch salt

  9. Salt and black pepper, for seasoning

  10. Chopped parsley

  1. Fry the mince in a little oil until browned all over.

  2. Add the oxtail soup and season.

  3. Place in a casserole dish in a medium to hot oven, gas mark 6-7.

  4. Make the cobbler by sifting the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl and rubbing in the lard, or blitz in a mini processor.

  5. Add the milk and stir with a knife until a dough is formed.

  6. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into rounds.

  7. Take the casserole dish from the oven, place the cobbler pieces on top of the beef and return to the oven uncovered.

  8. Cook for 10-12 minutes, decorate with parsley and enjoy.
