  1. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  2. 900g venison stewing meat

  3. 3 onions, chopped

  4. 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

  5. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  6. 1 bay leaf

  7. 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  8. 1 tablespoon salt

  9. 700ml water

  10. 7 small potatoes, peeled and quartered

  11. 450g carrots, cut into 2 1/2cm pieces

  12. 4 tablespoons plain flour

  13. 4 tablespoons water

  1. In a frying pan, deeply brown the meat in oil. Add onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, oregano, salt and water. Simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender.

  2. Add potatoes and carrots; cook until tender.

  3. Combine flour and water. Stir into the stew. Remove bay leaf before serving.
