  1. Preheat the oven to 200C / 180C ( for fan assisted) / gas mark 6 Place 12 paper muffin cases into a muffin tray.

  2. Take the first six ingredients above and place into a large mixing bowl. Beat them thoroughly with a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and light.

  3. Stir in pumpkin / butternut squash mash and the orange zest. Divide half the mixture evenly between the twelve paper cases, add a half teaspoon chocolate spread and then top with remaining bun mix.

  4. Bake the buns in the pre-heated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cakes are risen and lightly golden brown (to test if the buns are cooked, pierce with a cocktail stick and it should come out clean).

  5. Once the buns are cooked, place them (in their cases) onto a cooling tray and leave until cold.

  6. Add a little orange juice to the icing sugar, stir until the icing becomes thick and glossy. Spread a little icicng over each of the cold buns.

  7. Pipe the melted chocolate in 4 circles the top of each bun. Then using a skewer or cocktail stick, drag it to create the cobweb effect.

  8. Finally, top the 'cobweb' with a small liquorice sweet and small pieces of the laces to create the legs of the spider. Serve and enjoy and try not to scare too many with them!

  9. These buns are also lovely for Bonfire Night, you may want to change the decoration, but frankly, I don't see why you would.
