  1. Basmati rice - 1 cup

  2. Water - (1 1/2 - 2 Cups/adjust as per given on the packet)

  3. Vegetables (Carrot , Beans , Peas , Potato) - 1 cup

  4. (Big) onion - 1 no (Slice cut)

  5. Green chili- 2 nos ( Slit cut )

  6. Tomato - 1 no

  7. Ginger - 1/2tsp

  8. Garlic - 1/2tsp

  9. Saunf (sombu Paste) - 1/2tsp ( Ginger - 1 1/2 inch , Garlic - 6 pods and Saunf - 1/2 tsp )

  10. Mint leaves (few)

  11. Coriander leaves (few)

  12. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

  13. Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp

  14. Coriander powder - 1 tsp

  15. Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp

  16. Cashew (paste) - 1 tsp (Grind 5- 7 cashews )

  17. Salt as per taste

  18. Ghee - 1 tbsp

  19. Curd - 1 tsp

  20. Cinnamon - 1 small piece

  21. Cloves - 2 nos

  22. Cardamom - 1 no

  23. Bay leaf - 1 no

  24. (Marati moggu)Star anise - 1 no

  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 20 mins in 2 cups of water.

  2. In a cooker base take the oil and once its hot , add cinnamon, cloves , cardamom , bay leaf and star anise.

  3. Then add the sliced onions and ginger, garlic and saunf paste. Saute well till its raw smell vaporizes.Now add half of the mint , coriander leaves and green chillies. Mix well ..

  4. Then add the finely cut tomato pieces and saute till it turns mushy.

  5. Now add all the powders , cashew paste and mix well for few mins.

  6. Finally add the cut vegetables with the required salt and toss it well.

  7. Add the soaked rice with water , curd and the remaining mint & coriander leaves.Pour a tsp of ghee .

  8. Close the cooker and cook for 1 whistle.

  9. Yummy , Flavorful biriyani is ready to be served hot with onion raitha !!

  10. Note :

  11. We always want the briyani to be less spicy and mild in flavors. Please adjust the above said ingredients according to ur tastebud.

  12. If u wish u can fry the rice in ghee before soaking in water.
