  1. 1/2 lb 227g / 8oz Dried garbanzo beans or - fava beans

  2. Water - to cover

  3. 1 tablespoon 15ml Chopped cilantro

  4. 1 tablespoon 15ml Chopped parsley

  5. 4 Green onions - chopped

  6. 20 Garlic - minced

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Cumin

  8. 1 Baking soda

  9. Salt and pepper - to taste

  10. Water; to moisten - optional

  11. Olive oil - for frying

  1. Rinse dried beans under running water; place in the slow cooker and cover with water (at least 2 inches over top of beans) Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Pour off water; rinse under cold water and allow to drain.

  2. Place cooked beans in a food processor and add other ingredients. Blend until paste is formed.

  3. Form the Falafel into small patties about 1 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" thick. Deep fry the patties until golden brown.
