  1. 2 cups Sugar

  2. 1 cup Mashed potatoes cup Sweet milk or coffee

  3. 2 cups Flour

  4. 2 teaspoons Baking powder teaspoon Salt cup Ground chocolate (prefer Ghirardeli's)

  5. 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

  6. 1 teaspoon Ground cloves teaspoon Ground nutmeg

  7. 1 cup Chopped walnuts

  8. 4 Eggs

  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten egg yolks and hot mashed potatoes. Sift together 3 times, the flour, baking powder, salt, chocolate, spices; add nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in three (a must) greased 8-inch layer pans at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes. Spread on marshmallow frosting and sprinkle with nuts.
