  1. 1/2 kg chicken

  2. 100 g dry coconut

  3. 5 medium sized onions

  4. 2 tbsp saunf (fennel)

  5. 1/2 tbsp garlic paste

  6. 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

  7. 3 tbsp chili powder

  8. Salt to taste

  9. 1/2 cup oil

  10. 5 cloves

  11. 2 cinnamon sticks

  1. Clean chicken and cut into small pieces.

  2. Roast an onion with dry coconut in tbsp oil till brown. Grind them along with cloves and cinnamon to a paste.

  3. Grind ginger and garlic to form paste.

  4. Chop remaining onions.

  5. Heat remaining oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Add onions, chicken, chili powder, saunf (fennel), ginger, garlic paste and garlic powder. Cook on slow fire till the chicken is cooked. Use more water if necessary.

  6. Add ground masala and bring to boil. Simmer. Serve hot with rice or roti.
