  1. 1 cup butter , softened

  2. 1 cup brown sugar , packed

  3. 1 cup sugar

  4. 2 eggs , beaten

  5. 1 tsp vanilla

  6. 2 1/2 cups flour

  7. 1/2 tsp salt

  8. 1 tsp baking powder

  9. 1 tsp baking soda

  10. 2 cups quick-cooking oats , uncooked

  11. 2 cups lightly toasted rice cereal

  12. 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  13. 1 cup chopped walnuts

  1. Combine the butter and both of the sugars

  2. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda

  4. Gradually add to the butter mixture

  5. Stir in the remaining ingredients

  6. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets

  7. Bake at 350 F for 9 to 10 minutes

  8. Remove from the oven

  9. Let stand on the baking sheets for 4 to 5 minutes

  10. Cool on wire rack

  11. Makes 4 to 5 dozen
