  1. bread Slices 5 nos

  2. vegetables of your choice (fresh or frozen)

  3. Eg. tomatoes , cabbage , sweet corn , capsicum and green peas , carrot etc etc

  4. 2 tsp oil

  5. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  6. 1/4 ts sugar

  7. Boiled chickpea dal( chana dal)- 1/4th cup

  8. 1/4th mustard seeds

  9. Asafotedia - a pinch (optional as I don't use it)

  10. Green Chillies - 1 ( optional)

  11. Dry red chilli - 1

  12. 1 clove

  13. 2 whole cardamom

  14. soaked raisin - a few

  15. Fried cashew- a few

  16. Curry leaves- A few

  17. A pinch of turmeric powder

  18. fresh coriander leaves finely chopped - 1/2 cup

  19. salt to taste

  20. 1 tsp pure ghee ( optional)

  1. Cut the tomatoes in to medium size pcs and Chop the cabbage finely If You use carrot, pea capsicum, you can slightly blanch them before frying.

  2. Cut the bread pieces in to 1” pc or just tear them and soak them slightly with luke warm water to make them slightly moist.( don’t add much water)

  3. Heat oil in a pan.

  4. Add cumin and mustard seeds clove and cardamom.

  5. When it splutters, add dry chilli, bay leaf, curry leaves.( you can add asafotedia in this step.

  6. Add sugar and stir it to mix.

  7. Add the onion flakes, tomatoes and sauté for 1 min.

  8. Add all the veggies of your choice. Add turmeric powder and salt as per taste. Add the boiled chick pea dal.

  9. When they are cooked add the soaked bread pcs.

  10. Add the soaked raisin.

  11. Stir it up for some time.

  12. Add the coriander leaves Dash it up with some pure ghee or butter.

  13. Garnish it with fried cashew Bread upma is ready Best of this recipe is that you can have your own choice. Can skip any of the ingredients.
