  2. Cookies:

  3. 12 ounces cream cheese, softened

  4. 1 1/2 cups margarine

  5. 1 cup sugar plus additional

  6. 1 tsp. vanilla extract

  7. 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour

  8. Icing:

  9. 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

  10. 1 tbsp. milk

  11. 1 tsp. finely grated orange peel

  12. 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

  13. orange food coloring

  14. raisins

  15. licorice laces

  16. candy corn

  1. For Cookies:

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a large sheet pan. Combine cream cheese, margarine, 1 cup sugar and vanilla in a large bowl and beat until well blended. Add flour and mix until well combined. Gather the cookie dough into a ball. Wrap tightly and refrigerate dough 2 hours.

  3. Pinch of pieces od dough and form into 1 1/2 inch balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared pan, spacing 2 inches apart. Place the additional sugar in a small bowl. Dip the bottom of a glass in the sugar and use to flatten the dough balls to 3 inch circles. Bake cookies about 12 minutes until the edges are lightly browned. Let the cookies cool a few minutes on the pan before transferring to a rack to cool completely.

  4. For Icing:

  5. Beat together cream cheese, milk and orange peel in a large bowl. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar and mix until smooth. Add food coloring and mix until the icing is evenly tinted. Frost the cooled cookies with the icing. Decorate the cookies with raisins, licorice laces and candy corn to form Jack-O-Lantern faces.
