  1. 3 cups chopped peeled apples (3 medium)

  2. 3 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

  3. 1 teaspoon baking powder

  4. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  6. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  7. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  8. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  9. 2 cups packed brown sugar

  10. 1 cup vegetable oil

  11. 4 eggs

  12. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  13. 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  14. 3 to 4 tablespoons whipping cream

  15. 1/4 teaspoon maple flavor

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Generously grease 12-cup fluted tube cake pan with shortening; lightly flour.

  2. In medium bowl, toss apples with 2 tablespoons of the flour. In another medium bowl, mix baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and remaining flour. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until mixed. On low speed, beat in flour mixture just until blended. Stir in apples. Spoon batter into pan.

  3. Bake 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour.

  4. In medium bowl, mix all glaze ingredients until smooth and thick. Drizzle glaze over cake.
