  1. 1 cup butter softened

  2. 2 cups sugar

  3. 2 large eggs

  4. 3 teaspoons vanilla extract

  5. 3 cups flour, all-purpose

  6. 1 cup cocoa powder

  7. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  10. 24 each wooden sticks craft

  11. 48 each candy corn

  12. 24 each candies red and hot*

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degree.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer under high speed until smooth, 5 to 8 minutes.

  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla under low speed.

  4. Mix together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl, gradually add to the creamed mixture.

  5. Roll dough into 1-1/2-inch balls.

  6. Place 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets.

  7. Insert a wooden stick into each cookie.

  8. Flatten with a glass dipped in sugar.

  9. Pinch top of cookie to form ears.

  10. For whiskers, press a fork twice into each cookie.

  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set.

  12. Remove from the oven , immediately press on candy corn for eyes and red-hots for noses.

  13. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

  14. Serve and store at an air-tight container.
