  2. 3/4 cup slivered almonds

  3. 1/3 cup instant coffee powder (melted in 2 Tbsp. hot water)

  4. 2 2/3 cups flour

  5. 3/4 tsp. b.soda

  6. 1/2 tsp. salt

  7. 1 cup butter at room temp.

  8. 1 1/4 cups sugar

  9. 1 tsp vanilla extract

  10. 2 eggs

  11. 2 cups chocolate chips

  12. 350 F. Toast almonds on a baking sheet in oven until golden, about 10 minutes. Let cool. Dissolve coffee powder in

  13. 2 Tbsp hot water. Combine flour, soda and salt. With a mixer at med. speed, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in cooled coffee, vanilla and eggs. Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in flour mixture. With a wooden spoon, stir in almonds and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets about 3" apart. Bake until edges start to brown, about 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets about 3 minutes before removing to racks.

  14. Note: I don't bother with the almonds and they're still great.
