  1. 1 lb. ground beef

  2. 1 onion, chopped

  3. 2 cloves garlic, minced

  4. 3/4 cup wild rice

  5. 14 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained

  6. 6 oz. can tomato paste

  7. 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained

  8. 1 (15 oz.) can black beans, rinsed and drained

  9. 10 oz. can condensed beef broth

  10. 2 cups water

  11. 1 Tbsp. chili powder

  12. 1/4 tsp. cumin

  13. 1/8 tsp. pepper

  1. In heavy skillet, cook ground beef until brown, stirring to break up meat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 4-5 minutes longer until vegetables are crisp tender.

  2. Place everything into 4-5 quart crockpot and stir gently to mix. Make sure wild rice is immersed in the liquid. Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours until wild rice is tender. Serve topped with sour cream and shredded cheese, if desired.
