  1. 1/2 cup butter, softened

  2. 1/2 cup shortening

  3. 3/4 cup sugar

  4. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  5. 1 egg

  6. 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  7. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  9. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  10. 10 ounces white chocolate, coarsely chopped

  11. 1/2 cup coarsely chopped macadamia nuts, lightly toasted

  1. White Chocolate Cookies Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Cover and chill dough for 1 hour.

  2. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls about 3 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Let stand a few minutes before removing cookies to a wire rack to cool. Yield: about 2-1/2 dozen cookies.
