  3. 2 pounds lean ground beef

  4. 1 pound bulk pork sausage

  5. 1 small onion -- finely chopped

  6. 1 cup milk

  7. 1 egg -- lightly beaten

  8. 2 cups dry bread crumbs

  9. 2 teaspoons salt -- or less

  10. 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  11. 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice -- or less, to taste

  2. tablespoon vegetable oil1/4 cup minced onion1 8 oz can tomato sauce1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice1 tablespoon brown sugar1 1/2 teaspoons sugar1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce1/2 teaspoon dry mustard1/2 teaspoon salt1/8 teaspoon pepperMEATBALLS: Mix all ingredients for "Meatballs". Form into 1" balls. Cook in a single layer in a 350° F oven for about 20-30 minutes or until browned. Remove and drain.

  3. Sauce: Cook onion in oil till tender. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 10 minutes. Place meatballs in a crock pot. Pour sauce over and keep warm.

  4. Can be made a day or so ahead, refrigerated in the crock, and reheated. The sauce doesn't make a lot, just enough to coat the ball
