  1. 500 gm(boneless) chicken

  2. 2tsp cumin seeds

  3. 2tsp fennel seeds

  4. 2tsp mustard seeds

  5. 2 cinnamon (stick)

  6. 1/2tbsp ginger paste

  7. 1/2tbsp garlic paste

  8. 4 (to 5/dry) curry leaves

  9. 2 red chilies (dry)

  10. 1tbsp black pepper (corn)

  11. 3 (to 4) cloves

  12. 1 onion (chopepd)

  13. 2 tomatoes (puree)

  14. 1/2 cup shredded coconut

  15. 1 cup tamarind juice

  16. salt as per taste

  17. 1/2tsp turmeric powder

  18. oil for cooking

  1. heating up 2tbsp oil in a pan

  2. add red chilies, cumin seeds,mustard seeds, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, fennel

  3. seeds and curry leaves

  4. fry altogether well for 2 minutes

  5. now add the onion, garlic and ginger

  6. when the onions are turn little golden brown add the shredded coconut

  7. mix altogether well and fry for a minute

  8. now put all the ingredients in a blender along with little bit of water

  9. grind them to make a fine paste

  10. heating up 2tbps oil in the same pan

  11. add the chicken pieces in the hot oil

  12. when the chicken pieces are fried little bit add the paste masala and mix well

  13. keep on stirring and add salt and turmeric powder and mix well

  14. let the chicken cook for 5 minutes

  15. now add the tomato puree

  16. mix altogether well and cook for another 10 minutes

  17. now add the tamarind juice and mix it

  18. cook it till the gravy starts boiling

  19. chettinad chicken curry is now ready to be served
