  1. 3/4 cup all purpose flour

  2. 1 tsp. baking powder

  3. 2 large eggs

  4. 1 cup sugar

  5. 1/2 tsp. salt

  6. 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  7. 1 cup chopped, pitted dates

  8. 1 cup chopped walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the bottom and sides of an 8 inch square baking pan. Line the bottom of the pan with greased wax paper. Stir together flour and baking powder in a small bowl. Beat together eggs and sugar in a medium bowl. Beat in salt and vanilla. Stir in the flour mixture until combined. Fold in the dates and walnuts. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake about 35 minutes until firm and golden. Transfer the pan to a rack and cool completely. Cut into squares. Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature.
