  1. 2/3 cup 157ml Vegetable oil

  2. 1 cup 198g / 7oz Sugar

  3. 1/4 cup 59ml Molasses

  4. 1 Egg

  5. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Flour

  6. 2 teaspoons 10ml Baking soda

  7. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Ground cloves

  8. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Ground ginger

  9. 1 teaspoon 5ml Ground cinnamon

  10. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Salt

  1. Combine oil, sugar, molasses and egg in a mixing bowl and beat with a spoon until well mixed.

  2. Combine flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt in a separate bowl and stir with a fork until well mixed. Add dry ingredients to vegetable oil mixture and stir until blended. This is a stiff dough.

  3. Use 1 tablespoon of dough per cookie. You can roll the dough into 1 tablespoon balls by hand if you don't have a scoop. Drop dough balls 4 inches apart. Pat each rounded ball down to flatten it just a trifle.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees until crackly on top and browned. They will get crisp when they cool.

  5. This recipe yields 36 (2 1/2-inch) cookies.

  6. Each cookie: 82 calories ; 17 mg sodium; 5 mg cholesterol; 4 grams fat; 11 grams carbohydrates; 1 gram protein; 0.03 gram fiber.
