  1. 3 plum tomatoes, chopped

  2. 1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions

  3. 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided

  4. 1 tablespoon minced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil

  5. 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

  6. 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  9. 1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 1/2-inch slices

  10. 2 garlic cloves, peeled and halved

  1. Tomato-Basil Bruschetta Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, onions, 2 tablespoons oil, basil, vinegar, oregano, salt and pepper; set aside.

  2. Lightly brush both sides of bread slices with remaining oil. Arrange on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  3. Rub garlic over bread slices. With a slotted spoon, top each slice with tomato mixture. Yield: about 2 dozen.
