  1. Basmati rice - 2 cup

  2. onion (chopped) - 2 cup

  3. Tomatoes (ripe) - 3

  4. Green chillies - 4

  5. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

  6. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

  7. Mint leaves 1/2cup

  8. coriander leaves - 1/2cup

  9. Coconut milk - 2 cup

  10. Salt - to taste

  11. Ginger garlic paste - 1 1/2 tsp

  12. White salt bread - 2 slices

  13. To season:

  14. Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tsp

  15. Oil - 1 tsp

  16. Cinnamon-2

  17. Cloves-2

  18. Cardamom - 2

  19. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp

  20. Bay leaves - 2

  1. Wash and soak the rice in 2 cups of coconut milk and a cup of water.

  2. In cooker heat ghee and oil, add seasoning ingredients. Fry well.

  3. To that add sliced onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, mint, coriander leaves and sauté well.

  4. To that mixture add the soaked rice with the water, salt and mix well.

  5. If you wish a little sour taste you can add a tbs of lemon juice or 1/4th cup of curd.

  6. Mix well and close the cooker.

  7. Cook till 1 whistle.

  8. Reduce the flame to sim and let it cook for 5 mins.

  9. Roughly chop bread and deep fry it in oil.

  10. Add that to the prepared birinji rice, mix well and serve hot.
