  1. Crust:

  2. 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  3. 1 tsp. salt

  4. 1 cup butter, softened

  5. 1 large egg yolk

  6. 2/3 cup milk

  7. Filling:

  8. 1 cup crushed corn flake cereal

  9. 8 cups peeled, sliced apples

  10. 1 cup sugar

  11. 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

  12. 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

  13. Topping:

  14. 1 large egg white

  15. 2 tbsp. sugar

  16. 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

  17. Glaze:

  18. 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted

  19. 1 to 2 tbsp. milk

  20. 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  1. For Crust:

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in yolk and milk with a fork until a ball forms. Divide dough in half. Roll one half of dough to a 15x10 inch rectangle on a floured surface. Place dough on the bottom of a 15x10 inch jelly roll pan.

  3. For Filling:

  4. Sprinkle crushed corn flakes over crust. Place apples over corn flakes. Stir together sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Roll remaining dough to a 15x10 inch rectangle on a floured surface. Place dough over apples.

  5. For Topping:

  6. Stir egg white with a fork in a small bowl until foamy. Brush over top crust. Stir together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle over crust. Bake 45 to 60 minutes until crust is golden brown.

  7. For Glaze:

  8. Stir together powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until pourable. Drizzle glaze over warm bars.

  9. Let bars cool completely before slicing.
