  3. 2/3 cup Margarine or butter -- softene

  4. 1 Egg

  5. 1/2 cup Cocoa

  6. 1/3 cup Buttermilk -- milk or water

  7. 1 teaspoon Vanilla

  8. 1 3/4 cups All-purpose flour-- Or whole wheat flour

  9. 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda

  10. 1/2 teaspoon Salt

  11. 1 cup Chopped nuts -- if desired

  12. Chocolate frosting

  13. 2 Ounces unsweetened chocolate

  14. 2 tablespoons Margarine or butter

  15. 3 tablespoons Water

  16. 2 cups Powdered sugar -- about

  1. * if using self-rising flour omit Baking soda and salt.

  2. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix, sugar, margarine, egg, cocoa, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and nuts. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart into ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched; cool. Frost with Chocolate Frosting. CHOCOLATE FROSTINGHeat chocolate and margarine over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in water and powdered sugar until smooth.
