  1. 1/3 c shortening

  2. 1/3 c margarine

  3. 1/2 c sugar

  4. 1/2 c packed brown sugar

  5. 1 egg

  6. 1 t vanilla

  7. 1 1/2 c flour

  8. 1/2 t salt

  9. 1/2 t baking soda

  10. 1/2 c chopped pecans

  11. 1 12 oz pkg chocolate chips

  1. Cream shortening, margarine, both sugars, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Measure flour by the dip-level-pour method. Mix the salt and baking soda into the flour. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture a little at a time. When thoroughly blended, add the pecans and chocolate chips. Mix by hand to distribute pecans and chocolate chips evenly. Drop by teaspoons on a greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes in a 375° oven until browned. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet to waxed paper.
