Eleanor's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cream shortening, margarine, both sugars, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Measure flour by the dip-level-pour method. Mix the salt and baking soda into the flour. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture a little at a time. When thoroughly blended, add the pecans and chocolate chips. Mix by hand to distribute pecans and chocolate chips evenly. Drop by teaspoons on a greased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes in a 375° oven until browned. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet to waxed paper.
