  2. 1 1/2 cups of cold, baked beans

  3. 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  4. 3 or 4 tablespoons of olive oil

  5. 1/4 teaspoon of paprika

  6. 2 tablespoons of fine-chopped olives

  7. 2 tablespoons of vinegar

  8. 2 teaspoons of fine-cut chives

  9. 2 tiny gherkins, sliced thin and spread like fans

  10. 1 teaspoon of onion juice

  1. In slicing the gherkins do not cut the slices apart at the stem end; spread the slices to give the effect of a fan and dispose them on the salad, at the ends of the plate.

  2. Mix the beans with the other ingredients, by tossing them, or turning them, over and over, with a spoon and fork.

  3. For a change use fine-chopped mustard pickles in the place of the olives.
