  1. 500 gms chicken (pieces)

  2. 1 cup yogurt

  3. 1tsp turmeric powder

  4. Salt as per taste

  5. 1/2tbsp ginger paste

  6. 1/2tbsp garlic paste

  7. 2tbsp coriander leaves

  8. 4 onions (chopped/fried)

  9. 3 green chilies

  10. 1kg basmati rice (soak in water)

  11. 2tbsp food color Pinch of saffron (soak in milk)

  12. 2tbsp dry fruits (crashed)

  13. 2tbsp butter

  14. 2tsp biryani masala

  15. 2tsp ghee

  16. 1 piece cinnamon (stick)

  17. 1cardamom (black)

  18. 3 cloves

  19. Water

  20. 1tsp garam masala

  21. Cilantro leaves (for garnish)

  22. 1tsp almonds (garnish)

  23. 1tsp cashew nuts

  24. Hot water

  1. Take the chicken pieces in a bowl

  2. Add yogurt, turmeric powder and salt

  3. Now add ginger and garlic paste and coriander leaves

  4. Make a paste with the fried onions and green chilies

  5. Now add the paste with the chicken

  6. Mix all the ingredients with the chicken pieces well and leave the chicken to marinate for 1-1.5 hours

  7. After the marinating heating up 1tbsp of ghee or butter in a heavy deep pan

  8. Put the crashed dry fruits in the hot ghee and fry them until they turn golden brown

  9. Now in the same pan add the marinated chicken

  10. Put the biryani masala and mix well

  11. Cook the chicken in a low flame

  12. In other have to cook the rice first heating up 1tbsp of ghee in another heavy bottom pan

  13. Add the cloves, cinnamon and black cardamom

  14. Fry for a minutes

  15. Now add rice in the pan

  16. Fry for few minutes

  17. Now add hot water in the rice

  18. Add salt

  19. Cook the rice till it half done

  20. Off the stove and put the rice in a bowl and drain the excess water

  21. You can remove the fried cloves, cardamom and cinnamon from the rice now

  22. In the other hand the chicken is half done

  23. Sprinkle garam masala over it

  24. Now put the rice in the pan of chicken

  25. Pour the saffron which is already soaked in milk

  26. Sprinkle pinch of garam masala all over the rice

  27. Now add the food color over the rice

  28. Put some almonds and cashew nut over the rice

  29. Garnish it with coriander leaves and mint leaves

  30. Cover the pan with a lid

  31. Cook the rice with chicken now in a low flame for 1-20 minutes

  32. Nawabi biryani is ready

  33. Serve it hot with any favorite raita
