    1. 2 3/4 c. sifted flour

    2. 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    3. 1/2 tsp. salt

    4. c. shortening

    5. 1 lb. pkg. dark brown sugar

    6. 3 eggs

    7. 1 c. nut meats, broken

    8. 1 small pkg. Nestle's chocolate bits

    1. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Melt shortening and add brown sugar. Stir until well mixed. Allow to cool slightly. Add eggs, on at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients, then stir in nuts and chocolate. Bake at 350°F. for 25-30 minutes in greased pan, 10½ x 15½ x ¾ inch. When almost cool, cut into squares.
