  1. 2 c. brown sugar packed

  2. 3/4 c. butter

  3. 2 lg. eggs

  4. 2 T. hot water

  5. 2 T. orange juice

  6. 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

  7. 4 c. flour

  8. 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

  9. 1/2 tsp. salt

  10. 1 lb. orange candy slices

  1. Cream sugar and butter; add eggs and beat well. Combine hot water, orange juice and baking soda. Add alternately with flour, cream of tartar and salt. Reserve 1/2 cup flour and sprinkle over orange slices before slicing into small pieces. Add orange slices that are cut and mix with a spoon. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. Yield: serves 48
