  1. 12 ounces pasta, ziti one package

  2. 1 pound turkey italian sausage hot, links

  3. 1 cup onion chopped

  4. 2 each garlic cloves minced

  5. 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  7. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  8. 14 1/2 ounces tomatoes, canned petite-diced, undrained

  9. 1/4 cup basil chopped, fresh

  10. 1 x nonstick cooking spray

  11. 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded fresh, reduced fat

  12. 1 cup parmesan, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated fresh

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. Cook pasta according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Drain the pasta, and set aside.

  3. Remove casings from sausage.

  4. Cook sausage, onion, and garlic in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until browned, stirring to crumble.

  5. Add the tomato paste, salt, pepper, and tomatoes, and bring to a boil.

  6. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. Combine cooked pasta, sausage mixture, and basil.

  8. Place half of the pasta mixture in a 4-quart casserole coated with cooking spray.

  9. Top with half of mozzarella and half of Parmesan.

  10. Repeat layers.

  11. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until bubbly.
