  1. 180g butter, softened

  2. 1 cup icing sugar

  3. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  5. 1 1/2 cups plain flour, sifted

  6. 1/4 cup cornflour, sifted

  7. 1 teaspoon baking powder, sifted

  8. 100g good-quality milk chocolate

  9. 36 heart-shaped lollies

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 3 baking trays with baking paper. Place butter, icing sugar, cinnamon and vanilla into a large bowl. Beat with a wooden spoon until well combined.

  2. Add flour, cornflour and baking powder. Mix well until dough comes together.

  3. Roll dough into small balls and place onto trays. Dip a fork into flour and gently press biscuits to flatten slightly. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until firm to the touch but not coloured. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

  4. Place chocolate into a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Spoon a little melted chocolate onto centre of each biscuit. Place a heart-shaped lolly onto chocolate. Allow chocolate to set before boxing as a gift or serving.
