  1. groundnut oil for frying

  2. 1 large onion, sliced

  3. 250g lean beef mince or pork mince

  4. salt and pepper to taste

  5. 1 pinch each ground coriander and cumin

  6. 1 heaped teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

  7. 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste

  8. 1 sachet dry chicken noodle soup

  9. a few glugs soy sauce (Kikkoman in the small glass bottle with red lid works best)

  10. 1 knob butter

  11. 1/2 savoy cabbage, finely shredded

  12. 2 packets

  13. 3 minute noodles

  1. Meanwhile, prepare the noodles and cabbage. In a lidded saucepan melt the butter then add the cabbage. Add approximately 100ml water, and stir well. Replace the lid and cook on a low heat for 10 minutes. Break up the noodles and boil for 3 minutes then drain and add to the meat mixture. Drain the cabbage and also add to the meat. Stir really well to combine and cook for 5 minutes.

  2. Serve with extra soy sauce on the side and add to taste.
