  1. 1 lb ground beef or 1 lb ground pork

  2. 3/4 teaspoon salt

  3. 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  4. 1/2 cup fresh bean sprout (or canned drained)

  5. 1/2 cup water chestnut , drained and chopped

  6. 2 tablespoons slice green onions

  7. 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  8. 4 hamburger buns or 4 kaiser rolls, split and toasted

  1. In bowl combine ground meet, salt and d ginger.

  2. Shape into 8 ¼ inch patties.

  3. Combine sprouts, chestnuts, onion and soy sauce.

  4. Toss together lightly.

  5. Place about 2 tablespoons mixture on top of each of 4 patties to within ½ inch of edge.

  6. Top with remaining patties.

  7. Seal edges 8 Place patties on rack on unheated broiler.

  8. Broil 3 inches from heat turning once.

  9. For beef allow about 10 minutes total cooking time for medium, more for well.

  10. For pork broil 12-15 minutes or until well done.

  11. Serve on buns or rolls.
