  3. 1 egg

  4. 1/2 cup molasses

  5. 1 cup all-purpose flour

  6. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  8. 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  9. 1/8 teaspoon salt

  10. 1/2 cup hot water

  11. 9 tablespoons fat-free whipped topping

  1. Old-Fashioned Molasses Cake Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a small bowl, beat butter and sugar until crumbly, about 2 minutes. Beat in egg. Beat in molasses. Combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt; add to butter mixture alternately with water, mixing well after each addition.

  2. Transfer to a 9-in. square baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares; garnish with whipped topping. Yield: 9 servings.
